The story of Grandfather and boy
This next story could have come from any ancient Wiseman or woman. If you are a little bit like me and easily effected by others opinions, then you will gain tremendously from this wisdom.
Long long ago, a grandfather decided to take his grandson on an adventure, and bring him to the market that was on in a town about 2 hours away from their small village. He decided to ride the horse some of the way, a find strong farm animal, and he knew the little boy was very fond of the horse.
They headed out early in the morning. They travelled about 30 minutes and arrived at a village on the path to town. As they passed through the village they could hear people complaining about them saying such things as look at those two lazy people with both of them riding that poor horse. They should be ashamed of themselves.
They passed through that first village and they both decided to get down and to give the horse a rest, to stop and graze and drink from a stream. As they continued their way towards town, they decided to walk alongside the horse to get a bit of exercise themselves on their journey. After about 30 minutes they passed through the another village and when the people saw them, they started to laugh at them. Saying what a stupid old man and boy walking alongside such a strong horse. They should ride such a stout animal and get to their destination quicker and rested.
They passed through this village and headed towards town again. The grandfather decided to put the little lad on the horse on his own as he enjoyed riding the horse himself. The little lad was feeling confident now. After a while they passed through another village and when the villagers saw they started to complain about how selfish that little boy was, riding the horse while the poor old man had to walk. After they passed through that village the little boy noticing that the grandfather was getting tired, he got down and encouraged the grandfather to ride the horse.
After a while they passed through another village and you can guess what the villagers said. What a selfish old man riding such a strong horse and allowing a poor little boy to walk along the hard road.
It’s important to remember that when we live for other people, we usually end up unhappy, because they usually make assumptions without knowledge of all the facts. We end up changing our minds so often that we become a little confused and stressed. So the next time you notice being influenced by others, remember this little story and ask yourself who do I live for – myself or others.
